One of my favourite ways of welcoming in a new season is to give my wardrobe a little refresh. I create a lust list and shop new styles. I dread to think of the amount of time I’ve
wasted spent scrolling in search of the perfect polka-dot prints, flattering stripes, white dresses and cute slogan tees (which I have a serious love/hate relationship with by the way). Typically my bank account isn’t quite as passionate as I am about what I put on my back. I often find my virtual self neck deep in thousands of pounds worth of clothes and the lack of financial recklessness needed to actually place the order (it’s probably a good thing, right?)…
The Lust List
In a futile attempt to make all of those hours count for something more than the few pieces I did welcome into my wardrobe, I thought that I’d share my Summer lust list of staples that I love but which I’ve yet to invest in.
are a Summer trend that just keeps on returning. I like to invest in bags and rarely change them, so high-street bags aren’t something I’m often tempted by. A few years ago I was able to brush off the straw bag trend as nothing more than a one-season-wonder.. How wrong was I? For months now I’ve thought I’ll never use that, but time and time again we head off to the beach or for a picnic and I’m noticing more and more a star bag shaped gap in my wardrobe that I’m itching to fill…
The Striped Playsuit…
Although I feel much more confident about adding colour throughout Summer, I’ll always love the effortless black and white combo. This jumpsuit from Quiz is dreamy.
I’m desperate to add at least one of these to my wardrobe because although I have a few gorgeous play-suits, I don’t have any jumpsuits and they’re just so easy to wear! So many of the jumpsuits from Quiz are really floaty and look so comfortable for the gorgeous weather we’ve been experiencing this year. They’re also a style which I find so easy to dress up or down; suitable for BBQ’s, beaches, beer-gardens, evening strolls.. the list goes on!
are the perfect Summer staple and an essential on any Summer lust list. If you’ve read any of my previous dress posts, you’ll know that I think you can never have too many. After spotting this one in one of Lydia Elise-Millen’s latest posts, I thought I’d found the one. Unfortunately, it appears that so did a few other people, because it’s sold out. I can’t find the price for this anywhere, but I’ve opted to receive an e-mail when it’s back in stock. We’ll see how much I love it when I know how much it will set me back by! I recently purchased a few on ASOS (the ones which actually had my size left, they’re definitely due a restock) but to my disappointment, I had to send the majority of them back due to pure impracticality. Some of the cuts were badly thought out and most of them were so see-through you could even see my white undies!
All of the (one piece) Swimwear
What’s this? More black and white stripes.. shocker. I love them because downward stripes are just so damn flattering. Although I’m definitely not someone who believes in this myth labelled as the ‘bikini body’, I still want to get in a few more hours at the gym before I think I’ll be comfortable in a bikini. I’ll be opting for flattering one-pieces until then! I’m also LOVING lemon print, last years obsession has continued and there are no signs of its end!
Although I’ve loved Primark sliders for many Summers, I’ve recently found myself in the planning stages of a capsule wardrobe. I’ve been looking for Summer shoes that will really last me and although I’d love to be able to splash out on the Hermes sandals that I’ve been lusting over, I can’t warrant upping my budget from £5 to £500. I can however, warrant Tommy Hilfiger. Tommy clothing and shoes all just seem so American. I know you’re thinking duh, that’s because it is, but I mean really, truly, distinctively American. I just want to chuck on these wedges and head to a Miami boat party, a girl can dream, right?
