A Brilliant Smile : The Products I Use & GIVEAWAY

A Brilliant Smile : The Products I Use & GIVEAWAY

Ever since my high-school days, I’ve been on a seemingly never-ending mission to make my teeth as white as possible. There’s something about getting four teeth removed to then endure the emotional and physical pain of having braces that made me desperate to emphasise my new smile. Over the years, I’ve tried what feels like hundreds of dental products, from tooth whitening gel to a toothbrush that cost more than my Mulberry purse. After much trial and error, I feel as though I finally have a dental routine which really works.

Smile Brilliant Teeth Whitening

Smile Brilliant

I’ll start off with the product that provides the quickest and most dramatic results: the Smile Brilliant teeth whitening system. This system is a whole ‘tailored to you’ process. It involves analysing your level of stains and sensitivity and creating custom fit trays. I’m one of those strange humans who can function without tea or coffee, so am lucky in that my staining was minimal.

Smile Brilliant

Once you’ve made your dental impressions and received your custom trays you’re ready to whiten! The whole process is incredibly simple, both gels (the whitening first and then the desensitising) are packaged in easy-to-use syringes. You simply line the dental trays with a little gel- less is more unless you want a nasty taste in your mouth. I found out the hard way.

I’m going to be honest, the worst part about the whole process is how long it takes (whitening from 45 minutes to 3 hours and desensitising for 20 minutes). Now though, I’ve gotten into the routine of whitening just before bed while watching Netflix. Doing this keeps me distracted, and after one or two shows I’m done! I try and do this every other evening and the results are without a doubt, worth the effort.

Smile Brilliant

I’ve shown my before and after photos, but since I’ve done such a poor job at replicating the lighting and was clearly a few foundation shades darker in the ‘before’, I feel like it’s important to clearly state that neither of the above photos have been edited in any way.

Oral-B Toothpaste & Floss

I’ve been using Oral-B dental products for a couple of years now and have never seen such dramatic results from a toothpaste. With continued use, this keeps my teeth so much whiter than any other daily toothpaste I’ve used. They are slightly more pricey than your Colgate, but they’re always on offer and I make sure to stock up! Oral-B floss is great too and I make sure to use it every evening after brushing. I then use mouthwash, which I’m not too fussy about, but I do always pick one that promotes strong enamel.

Oral B

Oral-B GENIUS 9000 Rose Gold Electric Toothbrush

Okay, so this toothbrush is around ten times the price of an average electric toothbrush. It’s also around one hundred times better (in my opinion). I got mine a couple of years ago at a Christmas discount and it’s more than made it’s money back for me since then. I couldn’t imagine using anything else, and unless they bring out an upgrade, I’m unlikely to.

The brush has six modes; Pro Clean, Daily Clean, Sensitive, Tongue Cleaning, Whitening, and Gum Care and also warns you if you’re brushing too hard. As if that isn’t smart enough, it also uses facial recognition software and the Oral-B app to tell you where to brush and for how long, it’s absolutely genius. I’m a serial snacker and have a very sweet tooth so when I casually name-dropped my toothbrush model, it was nice to be met with my dentist’s approval for a change. At the minute the toothbrush is on offer at half price so if you’re interested then now’s the time to look into it!

This looks like a great product! I felt the same as you. I always had yellow teeth and tried all sorts of home whitening myths – charcoal, lemon peel, cocunut oil. Nothing worked. When I turned 20 I finally decided to whiten my teeth professionally and it was a great decision. I’m glad you’ve got great results!

This post couldn’t have been published at a better time, I was just looking at my teeth this morning and thinking that they had a rather unattractive yellowy tinge (I don’t drink coffee or red wine but I do love tea and I used to smoke years ago). The SMILE products sound like they might do the trick – I’ve entered the giveaway! Much as I love the look of that gold toothbrush, I just have to keep my fingers crossed for the giveaway, haha! xx

Your teeth look incredible! I love that it accounts for sensitivity too – I whitened my teeth using crest strips and I loved them but it made them soo sensitive! xx

    • September 28, 2018 / 10:34 am

Thank you! I’ve never tried the Crest strips but I’ve heard the same thing from a few people! x

Wow, you have such an amazing and obvious result from the whitening kit! I’m so self conscious about my teeth, so I look really grumpy in every photo. I will definitely be giving the kit a shot, very impressed with your results! That toothbrush also looks amazing, I love that it’s so clever as well as so aesthetically pleasing. Definitely going on the Christmas list!

This is super timely as I’m currently debating how I can whiten my teeth – I’ve been investigating coconut oil pulling but it sounds like this is a great alternative! I love the rose gold touch on the toothbrush! I also need to get way better at flossing. I’m entering the competition as my teeth could really do with a spruce! Lovely photography and you look stunning!

Perfect timing then! I tried coconut oil pulling and hated it myself – but I hope you get on better if you try it! Good luck with the competition lovely x

Wow Soph! You can really notice the difference between the photos. I’ve tried a couple of teeth whitening toothpastes before but never noticed much of a change. I think I need something like the teeth whitening system, especially as it’s tailored to you. I’ve also got an Oral B electric toothbrush but yours looks a bit more flashy, maybe it’s time I invested in an upgrade! Thank you for the recommendations, great post! <3 xx

I’ve never seen too much of a change from any toothpaste but the Oral-B! I’d say any electric toothbrush is pretty good but if you are looking for a new one, I can definitely recommend this one! Thanks Bexa! x

Great post!, I’ve been proper pieing over one of those toothbrushes (how sad is that haha) they just look so bluddy good!.I like the fact that the plans are tailored to your own preferences, I’ve seen so many strange home teeth whitening remedies even as far as paprika haha!. I really like oral B’s products, especially the toothpastes.

    • September 28, 2018 / 10:39 am

I don’t think it’s sad at all haha, it’s definitely an investment and I considered it for a while before I bought! Ooh I’ve never heard of using paprika, that is strange! x

There such a difference in your before and after pics! I’m seriously tempted. I drink a lot of coffee so could definitely benefit from this.

Two of my favourite beverages (water aside) are black coffee and red wine and I definitely think my smile has suffered. I don’t have awfully yellow teeth but they aren’t the pearliest of white either. The fact the toothbrush has settings has kind of blown my mind a little bit. I have really sensitive teeth so the fact you can personalise the Smile whitening service sounds amazing! I find a lot of standard whitening products really harsh x

I think all of our smiles suffer over time! I’ve heard of a lot of harsh whitening but this one is perfect for my teeth, I had a very little sensitivity the first time I used it but the desensitising stuff works wonders and I’ve been gradually able to whiten for longer with no sensitivity at all! x

  12. September 28, 2018 / 2:15 am

    • September 29, 2018 / 8:30 am

I was the same and this has definitely turned it to pearly white! No worries, good luck if you entered! x

  14. September 28, 2018 / 7:10 pm

I’ve never tried any teeth whitening products before only toothpaste because I’m a bit worried as I have such sensitive teeth but that looks amazing! You can really tell the difference, also love the toothbrush! Xx

    • September 29, 2018 / 8:32 am

I understand your worries, I know a lot of products can be harsh. Thanks lovely! x

I feel you about trying to make my teeth as white as possible without weakening my teeth or dropping so much money towards it. Oh man, I remember those braces days! The pain from trying to have perfectly aligned teeth. It’s great that Smile Brilliant worked out for you! I can see the difference and it worked out great for you. You definitely shouldn’t skimp out on toothpaste. It’s the bare essential for good teeth. Love the electric toothbrush you have!

Oof, I remember those braces days! The palette expander was the worst for me, with a retainer being second!
Now I’d love to try a teeth-whitening treatment, this one should be on my list!
