I’ve never had a problem sticking to a typical skincare routine. I religiously follow one and even on the latest of nights I follow a simplified version of it to avoid blemishes or problems with my skin. What I’m not so good at, is remembering to use additional beauty products. A couple of months ago I figured that in order to tackle this, I should incorporate a second step to my evening beauty routine, involving all of those products I tend to forget. The following is a list of things that I make sure to keep in my bedside table so that they’re handy and ready to use right before bed.
Although there are certain aspects of Autumn and Winter that I’m looking forward to, none of them quite make up for the bitter cold of the UK throughout them. I’m one of those people that seems to have a slightly cooler body temperature than the average person, so Summer is my season. If I’m honest with you, some of it’s superficial; I look better with sun-kissed hair and a tan. I’m not quite ready yet to say goodbye to good lighting and pretty dresses in favour of frizzy, hood hair and six layers of clothing. At this time of year it’s for that reason that I make every attempt to extend Summer as much as possible within my beauty routine, and any other way I can too!
The closest thing I have to an addiction is the inability to stop buying and agreeing to test out new beauty products. I love opening fresh new makeup and trying out skincare that I’ve not used before. For this reason, my drawers are quite literally overflowing with products. There’s a reason you rarely see ‘product empties’ posts from me, and it’s because I never end up actually emptying anything!
‘I’m a beauty blogger’ …
My go-to justification for continuing to buy makeup and skin care products, despite having enough at home to open a small store of my own. My beauty posts are typically reviews or recommendations but today I thought I’d share something a little different.
Despite my status as a self-confessed skincare junkie, I’ve been rather slack in my approach to one of this year’s biggest skincare hypes; Korean beauty. K-Beauty emphasises the importance of skincare over make-up products, which is an approach that I wholeheartedly agree with. Don’t get me wrong, you know that I love my make-up, but thankfully the high-school version of me has evolved to use it as an enhancement rather than an attempt to cover-up problematic skin. I want perfect skin and the make-up skills of Kim Kardashian’s entire glam team. Too much to ask? Possibly, but I digress. All I know is that the Korean beauty I’ve tried has given me truly glowing skin.
If we’re connected on social media then you’ll know how excited I was when Cult Beauty announced a goodie bag in celebration of their 10th birthday. After half-heartedly telling myself off for even considering spending £170 on beauty products that I don’t need in order to qualify for it, I caved. The goodie bag is like no other. It’s not filled with sample sizes or products that they just can’t shift, it’s 10 of the most sought-after products right now. Without further ado, here’s the haul; my picks and the contents of the goodie bag!
Recently charcoal has been added into the strangest things; from skincare products to toothpaste to detoxifying drinks (I’m happy to drink Coke so why I found the black colour of Wow’s Dark Detox drink so off-putting remains a mystery). The bottom line is: clearly there are a lot of people out there who believe in the benefits of charcoal.
Generally, beauty subscription boxes aren’t for me. Although I think they’re a fantastic idea, I’ve ended subscriptions in the past after receiving a few too many things that I’m not overly interested in, or that I already own. I have to admit that I’m also a little bit of a control freak when it comes to parting with my hard earned money, preferring more control over what its actually providing me with.
