Its the first Sunday of the new year and I still can’t quite get my head around our new 2019 status. There’s a 2018 highlights on it’s way, but for now here are the things and experiences I’ve loved throughout December.
Mid-December, we took a trip to London; one of my favourite places to see at Christmas. Their decorations and festive atmosphere really help to make this time of year special – although I do avoid it very close to Christmas when the festive bustle turns to pure mania. We visited the Thursday just under two weeks before the big day and it ended up being a really good time to go, I didn’t have to elbow one person!
Our first stop in London was for food, no surprises there! We’d skipped breakfast and wanted something quick and close to Kings Cross, so opted for Honest Burger. Neither of us had eaten there before but I can hand on heart say that it was the best burger I’ve ever enjoyed in this country. I had the ‘Tribute’ burger, American style. They also offer a vegan option and their rosemary salted chips are to die for.
Lunch at Lavenham | The Swan
I enjoyed lobster at Lavenham a few Summers ago, but it’s location (at least an hour drive) means that we don’t visit too frequently. Last month my parents stayed at their hotel, and asked us to join them there for a festive lunch. The restaurant mirrored the rest of the village, both beautifully decorated for the season. We enjoyed a three course Carvery and had a lovely festive day doing little more than eating and wandering about. I can recommend their restaurant if you live Suffolk way, and I’d definitely be happy to stay with them in the future.
I worked with Day 2 on a paid campaign in early December, but this recommendation is purely off my own bat. Day 2 gifted me their range of dry wash sprays: the original, for delicates, and for denim, and I’ve been using (and loving) them all month. They breathe new life (and a lovely fresh laundry scent) into clothing that isn’t dirty but is a little stale. From ridding fabric of food smells, to freshening up musty scarves that were at the back of the drawer- I’ve loved and used a lot of Day 2 and will definitely be repurchasing. Every 200ml bottle also saves 60 litres of water- their bottle isn’t yet recyclable yet which is a shame- I’ve been assured they’re working on it.

The M&S Beauty Advent Calendar
This Christmas and last, I enjoyed the M&S beauty calendar. I love trying out new products but don’t subscribe to any beauty boxes as I find a lot of products go unnoticed. Beauty calendars in general are a great way of trying new products and discovering some new favourites in time for the new year. I’ve written about my favourite products from the M&S 2018 calendar.
Christmas, of course, had to make the list. I got to spend a lovely few days with my partner and family, and somehow managed to scrape my way onto the nice list too.
And that rounds up my monthly highlight posts for another year! I hope 2018 was kind to you and that 2019 is even more so.
