I’m going to begin with a confession. I don’t look after my things with enough care. By things, I mean specifically, my phone. I’ve always been a nightmare when it comes to my phone, refusing to use cases for ridiculous reasons.
In my many years of owning smartphones, I’ve only had to have one replacement, but my partner has had a few. After the approximately 462 times in which he’s asked me nicely to please use a case, it took his new job to persuade me. Despite the perks of his job, they understandably don’t offer the security blanket of heavily discounted phones. In an attempt to become a more responsible adult, I gave in and have begun to use cases. There were two conditions: that they were to be aesthetically pleasing and that they weren’t to be too chunky or heavy. Thankfully I’ve been able to find a few which I’ve been loving and I wanted to share my favourites!
Aesthetically pleasing? Tick. Lightweight and not too chunky? Tick. Comfortable to hold, anti-scratch, enhanced screen protection? Tick, tick, tick. The lovely Tilly from Twofifty5 sent me this gorgeous case recently and I couldn’t be more impressed with it. Her cases are created from hand-painted works of art, the textures reflecting the surface of the moon. I love her use of texture and almost expect to be able to feel paint strokes when I touch the case. Tilly has kindly offered a discount code for 20% off. If you’re using her site (the one linked) then use code ‘SOPHHEARTS20‘.
Ebay : Personalised
I’ve rediscovered my love for this case which I was gifted a while ago. I love anything personalised but my favourite thing about it has to be the marble effect. I have a marble skin on my Macbook so the Monica Geller within me loves that the two match. This one feels a little more flimsy than the Twofifty5 one, but hey, it’s better than no case at all and its so pretty.
WHY YOU NEED A CASE
I’m certainly no stranger to the increased heart rate and general panic which immediately ensues dropping a trusty and expensive phone on a hard surface. I have to admit that when phone cases are involved, the panic is considerably decreased. There’s a sense of comfort that you’ve protected the phone as best you can. Of course, no case is failsafe. Although the chances are better with one, none can guarantee that the phone will be unharmed if dropped. If your blasé attitude to protecting your phone or your case has failed you, it’s bad, but could be worse. As I mentioned, my partner has had a few phone related mishaps. The worst thing you can do is admit defeat and think that its broken state renders it worthless. Instead of chucking it in the back of a drawer make sure you head to Recyclezone, who will find you the best price for phones in good or bad condition. You type in your phone make and model so for example ‘sell Samsung s6‘ and it will give you the best price tailored to your phone. We’ve used them a couple of times and have always ended up with a fair price!
