Hello and welcome to my first beauty empties post of 2020! I’m not sure how it’s already April but I think this may be the strangest year I’ve lived through so far. We’re seeing shortages of pasta and toilet roll but I’m pretty confident that I have enough skincare and makeup to last me a very long time, even despite all of the recent beauty empties.
Tan is one of the beauty products that I’m quite particular with. Let’s be honest, no one can pull off a patchy tan, so naturally I avoid it at all costs. Bondi Sands is one of my favourite fake tan brands and they have made several of my beauty empties.
I’ve tried plenty of shades but find that dark typically works best for me. I also leave it on far longer than it suggests to on the bottle, usually overnight.
I get bored of scents very quickly, so my perfumes typically last me quite a while. I’ve had this one for years and have really loved it but it is one that reminds me of a past life so I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing.
Elemis create such beautiful spa skincare products. I was prescribed this a while ago by an Aqua Sana beauty therapist to combat dehydrated skin. This is such a beautiful and relaxing toner that’s effective as well as gentle.
I’m so lucky to be a Dermalogica Skinfluencer and I adore the vast majority of products that I’ve tried so far. Precleanse, though, has to be one of my favourites. It dissolves heavy and stubborn makeup so easily and is the perfect first step of an evening routine. I have no doubt that I’ll be repurchasing this.
My skin absolutely loves this moisture boost. I usually find adding products to my beauty empties pile so satisfying, but with this, I was just upset that I’d finished it. One of my biggest skin problems is dehydration and using this before my night cream has really made a difference. It’s another definite favourite.
Hydration intense is definitely the right description for this product. I’ve been using this every other evening and have found it incredibly effective if a little heavy.
Clinique is one of my favourite skincare brands, but if I’m honest, this one just didn’t hit the mark for me. I was drawn to this because I like face creams that boast SPF, but this one is just very… average. With so many better alternatives (like their HydroBlur moisturiser) I wouldn’t necessarily recommend or repurchase it.
I love a good day cream and have quite enjoyed using this one. It’s wonderful for those dull complexion days as it has an actual sparkle to it. For this reason, I feel like it may be a love it or hate it type of product, but I’ve enjoyed using it as a base for my daily makeup.
This is the contour option I tend to opt for day-to-day, so I’ve gotten through a few of them. For such an affordable product the contour shade is lovely and blendable and the highlight gives a very ‘your skin but better glow’.
P.S. MY PERFECT COLOUR FOUNDATION
Foundations are one of the makeup products I’m more than happy to invest in. Typically I opt for high-end foundations, but so many people raved about this one that, for the price, I just had to try it.
Considering the price I was actually quite impressed with this foundation, it blends easily and is long-lasting. There’s a big BUT though. When I use it for more than a few days at a time I do find my skin rebelling. My top priority is great skin so I’m not about to sacrifice that to reduce my foundation costs. Saying that a lot of people do seem to get on with it, so it might be worth giving a go. If you don’t like it then you’ve only lost a fiver.
I bought this in Paris last year and was actually originally after the renowned Shape Tape. When I couldn’t track it down I settled for this one instead. Initially, I wasn’t a huge fan of the consistency, but it’s definitely grown on me over time. The shade range of Tarte concealers is incredible and this one is so long-lasting.
Last but not least is one of my favourite affordable mascaras. I purchased this myself but was recently sent the waterproof version by the lovely Soap & Glory team, which came at the perfect time. Now, having tried both, I would probably opt for the waterproof version when the time comes to repurchase, but both versions get a definite thumbs up from me.
