Seasonal Touches | Fall Back In Love With Your Home

There’s no place like home. Whether you’re returning from a trip or just a long day at the office, no other place is able to welcome you in quite the same way. Homes littered with sentimental items and personal touches are the best and most comforting kind, but it’s also important to remain in love with your living space. I find that the easiest way to avoid that fed up feeling caused by same old is by tweaking and refreshing seasonally.

‘In the Comfort of My Own Home’

Throughout the colder seasons, I enjoy spending time at home so much that I actually schedule it in (I’m serious). There’s a fine line between keeping a house homely and ensuring that it changes enough so as not to become stagnant. Achieving that balance can sometimes feel harder than it looks, but homeware shopping and creative tweaking can also be really enjoyable. I love looking online for inspiration and have recently discovered a wonderful site which provides me with just that: Lions Home (a home and living online shopping portal). By scrolling through this and trusty Pinterest home decor boards, I’ve recently been completely inspired.

Textiles

Transforming the feel of a room sounds like a pretty big job, but it’s incredible what you can do with just a throw and a couple of cushions. I have a few which vary in colour or theme according to the season and have recently added a navy TK Maxx one to my collection too. Tucking a throw into the sofa cushions or resting one strategically over the side of the sofa’s arm completely switches up the vibe of the area. I’ve also recently reintroduced last Christmas’ icy-toned M&S polar bear cushions in preparation for Winter but red tartan is also wonderful to use at this time of year.

Seasonal Scents

Nothing creates a cosy atmosphere quite like lighting a candle or two, and Lion Home features some gorgeous high-end ones. The White Company candles and diffusers are my favourite feature as they’re my go-to products when it comes to effortlessly creating a seasonal ambience. Some of their candles are quite literally named after the seasons, making light work of which to feature in your home and when. Their Winter scent which features cinnamon, clove and orange, is just divine but another great one for this time of year is Orange Rind (mine is Orange Grove as it’s last years branding, but I’m pretty sure it’s same candle, different sticker).

Homely

Cosy Touches

Cosy touches come in many shapes and forms. From arranging seasonal flowers and featuring seasonal mugs in the kitchen to laying out cosy hot water bottles; which are practical as well as ascetically pleasing, there are so many additions which can cosy-up a place. When it comes to updating your home with the seasons, it’s the little additions which are the most affordable and which really can make the world of difference.

Cute post! I absolutely LOVE that Polar Bear cushion. I can’t live without my hot water bottle in the Winter, I have it with me 24/7. I love Christmas in a home, with the fairy lights and candles etc. I’m going to deck my bedroom out a bit more this year and get a little Christmas tree 🙂 xxx

I love making little cosy touches to my home, especially around this time of year. Aww, the M&S polar bear cushion is adorable! The stay cosy hot water bottle is really cute too. Candles are so perfect to add that extra homely touch. I’ve been loving the Honey Pumpkin candle you gave me, I light it each evening and it gives off such a comforting and relaxing aroma. Lovely post Soph, thanks for sharing your ideas <3 xx

Great idea about the cushions & throws, I do this a lot on my tired and in need of replacing poang armchair and it does hide a multitude of sins plus I can swap colours & textures easily.

I live, love, love candles but hace never tried any from The White Company. Did sniff an orange one in there a little while back and it did have a lovely scent.

I also love cosying up my home. I was literally looking around earlier today thinking it needed a little something to bring on the cost vibes. Currently got my Harvest Pumpkin candle on to help it along.

I totally agree! One of the things I love about autumn is how common it is to light up candles, snuggle up with some cosy socks, a hot water bottle and some snuggly cushions!

Love this idea. I have seasonal scents and winter cushions and throws. It just makes it all that more cosy in winter time. Glad I’m not the only one – my mom goes all out and changes all her mugs etc to winter ones. She’s a massive Christmas/winter fan!
