Despite my status as a self-confessed skincare junkie, I’ve been rather slack in my approach to one of this year’s biggest skincare hypes; Korean beauty. K-Beauty emphasises the importance of skincare over make-up products, which is an approach that I wholeheartedly agree with. Don’t get me wrong, you know that I love my make-up, but thankfully the high-school version of me has evolved to use it as an enhancement rather than an attempt to cover-up problematic skin. I want perfect skin and the make-up skills of Kim Kardashian’s entire glam team. Too much to ask? Possibly, but I digress. All I know is that the Korean beauty I’ve tried has given me truly glowing skin.
Just over a month ago I added two Korean beauty products from Wishtrend to my skincare regime. I’ve been using both a serum and a multifunction vitamin E mask and have great first impressions of both.
Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop
A serum which contains concentrated pure vitamin C, one of it’s biggest selling points is a rejuvenation of the skin. I find that without the help of great products, my skin can appear quite dull, so I was interested to see if this would brighten it up. The serum is super moisturising and has definitely helped to make my skin look healthy and glowing this Summer. For all of its great results, I have two small criticisms. Firstly it has an odd smell, its definitely not make or break and it’s not even that it’s offensive. The best way I can describe it is the smell of clean nappies.. I know, strange. The second critique is it’s texture, which is, to put it bluntly, very sticky. I easily combatted this by layering a gel moisturiser after application and so didn’t find this too much of an issue, but thought that it was worth a mention.
Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask
The mask has a much more pleasant, sweet smell. It took me a while to put my finger on it but it reminds me of lychee. This product also has a strange texture, but in quite a pleasant way. It’s unlike any other skincare I’ve used and is almost jelly-like in the texture but melts really well into the skin. This is another very moisturising product and together these two have successfully combatted my dehydrated skin.
The Korean Beauty Verdict
I’ve been using both of these products for a matter of weeks. After removing my make-up, cleansing and toning, I apply the serum, then the mask and I complete the regime with a gel moisturiser to combat the stickiness. I’ve been religiously using these products in the evening and have used them on various mornings too. It should be pretty clear that the combination has had a noticeably positive effect on my skin, leaving it super hydrated and therefore looking brighter and healthier. I know that there are so many K-beauty products on the market at the minute and I can’t wait to try out more. I will, of course, keep you updated with my favourites, please let me know yours in the comments!
