Generally, beauty subscription boxes aren’t for me. Although I think they’re a fantastic idea, I’ve ended subscriptions in the past after receiving a few too many things that I’m not overly interested in, or that I already own. I have to admit that I’m also a little bit of a control freak when it comes to parting with my hard earned money, preferring more control over what its actually providing me with.
Enter: Latest in Beauty. If you haven’t heard of these guys before, they provide beauty boxes on both a subscription and non-subscription basis. For subscribers, they exhibit all of the products available and allow you full control over what you actually receive in your box. For non-subscribers, some ‘collection’ boxes are available to purchase, and some boxes are available via a ‘build your own’ basis, which again, allows you a much greater level of control over which products you receive. Talk about game-changing. This post is dedicated to the latter Latest in Beauty box type, in which they have partnered with The Sunday Times Style in order to celebrate their 2018 Beauty Awards. This edit contains products which have all been shortlisted for the awards.
The Sunday Times beauty box allows you to select six products for £25. It has understandably caused an awful lot of hype within the online beauty world. I could have happily spent hours clicking to select far more than the six products that I received. For this reason it’s a shame that other amount options weren’t available. Another (and the last) downside is that when I got around to ordering my own box, some of the arguably best products like Charlotte Tilbury gems had already sold out, I’m not crying, honest. Aside from the little niggles, and I really have only myself to blame for being too slow. I’m still super happy with the bits that I managed to get my hands on. I thought I’d share my own picks with you, especially considering that the box is such a bargain.
Full Size Products
MAC, Lipensity Lipstick, Clouds in my Coffee
You know how much I love my nudes, and this is a good’un. This lipstick shade is similar, albeit a little lighter than one of my MAC favourites: Velvet Teddy. It also costs £18 directly from MAC, so it really was a no-brainer.
The Body Shop, Japanese Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask
Another full-size product, which costs £17 on The Body Shop website and look at that, I’ve already made my money back!
Sample Size Products
Eve Lom Cleanser, 20ml Sample
The original cleanser comes in 50ml and costs £40. So my sample works out to be worth £16.
Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum, 10ml Sample
The 30ml original retails at £46, which means that my sample is worth around £15.
Sisley, Black Rose Cream Mask
The 60ml original of this luxury skincare product would set you back a whopping £105, making this 10ml sample size worth £17.50.
Elemis, Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, 20g
Last but not least, Elemis actually stock this sample size under their travel products and charge £9. The best news for you guys is that I actually already own one of these, and picked this one up to include in a GIVEAWAY! At the end of June, Sophie Hearts turns one, to celebrate I’ll be hosting my biggest giveaway worth over £100. Make sure you’re subscribing so that you get an e-mail when it goes live!
The overall total of the products I chose is roughly a whopping £92.50. This box really is amazing value for money.
If you also got The Sunday Times Style Awards 2018 box I hope you loved yours too. If you didn’t get it, what are you waiting for? Which product would get your vote?
