Often I find myself so caught up in new releases on Beauty Bay that I neglect to search for great new brands.
Cue Maya Rey.
MAYA REY | THE BRAND
If the concept of fresh, natural products appeals to you then these guys are one to look out for. Centred around encouraging both wellness and mindfulness, they’re undoubtedly a brand I’m proud to support. So many of their own ethics reflect my own, from working to protect the environment by avoiding unnecessary plastics to running charity initiatives and giving back. The brand was formed by a husband and wife team who place the utmost importance on good customer service. Dealing with them feels personal and they make it clear that they’re always happy to help. Their website also hosts a journal type blog, offering advice and brand news.
I’ve recently discovered a few new (to me) wonderful lavender products, some of which have become evening staples. Adding these salts to a bath achieves a whole new level of relaxation. Get comfortable with your body though, there are no bubbles here!
The range of liquid soaps are a relatively new addition to Maya Rey and boy are they a good one. In order to avoid unnecessary plastic waste I often opt for bars, but this liquid soap comes in easily recyclable glass and smells incredible. I’ll admit that you don’t get much product for the price but the scent heavily reminds me of Jo Malone and there’s no doubt that this is a luxury product.
I’m not sure if this is a clever exterminator pun or just a happy coincidence. Either way, this is my favourite product of them all. The exfoliator has been perfect for me because my disdain for most body scrubs leaves me exfoliating far less than I should be. It’s kind of like skin friendly sandpaper but miraculously, it doesn’t irritate my sensitive legs. It rids them of dead skin and leaves them feeling incredibly soft, just don’t forget to moisturise afterwards.
After trying three products from Maya Rey, I have to say I’ve been impressed by them all. Not only are they natural, gorgeous and high quality, but you can also tell they’ve been packaged with care and they’d make beautiful gifts.
