Okay so I’m on board with the midi trend. A full convert. It wasn’t too long ago that the midi skirt had it’s time in the sun, but now I’m here to tell you why the midi dress should take pride of place in your wardrobe as a staple.
IT’S NOT A FAIR WEATHER FRIEND
I’m a summer girl. Unless everyone around me is complaining that they’re too hot, it’s very likely that I’m too cold.
I don’t discriminate in my love of dresses. I have plenty of different styles, but my main reason for thinking that the midi dress is such a great staple is because it’s a safer bet. Dresses with shorter skirts and sleeves aren’t going out of style, but, especially in Britain where we have such temperamental summers, it can be difficult to get great cost-per-wear.
I find my pink pleated dress from justyouroutfit so easy to wear because it tends to keep me at a good temperature. Obviously, it’s still more summer appropriate. However, I find that it’s floaty enough for me to wear throughout most days without getting too hot. On the flip side, I find it perfect for evening wear. It’s elegant, and most importantly the long sleeves and midi length keeps the evening chill at bay more effectively.
Although I’ve only worn this as a summer piece, I’m confident that it will transition well into Autumn.
IT’S CONFIDENT AND FEMININE
A lot of dresses are feminine but there’s something about a perfect fit that gives way to confidence. I know that when I’m wearing a dress that flatters my figure and gently sways with my stride, I immediately feel more capable and better in myself.
Dresses are one of the most effortless pieces of clothing which translate to ‘put together’. They look fantastic even when they simply involve being thrown on and paired with the right shoes. For that reason, they’re one of my favourite things to wear.
DRESS IT UP OR DOWN
Finally, the midi dress is versatile not only in terms of weather but in terms of style too. Pair it with a denim jacket or a blazer, sliders or heels. It dresses down as effortlessly as it dresses up and wouldn’t look out of place at either a beach or a wedding. These are the clothes that deserve staple status and which will achieve amazing cost per wear. My pretty pastel piece is amazing quality for the £12.00 that it sells at and it was made in Italy.
