NEEK Ethical Skincare: First Impressions

NEEK Ethical Skincare: First Impressions

NEEK Skin Organics, An Introduction

Unless you’re a brand new reader, you may know that over the last few months I’ve been on the hunt for eco-friendly brands. Cue NEEK: an ethical skincare company from Australia, who popped into my e-mails at just the right moment. A brand that I can fully get behind, NEEK utilise natural, active ingredients in their cruelty-free and vegan beauty products. They also post out their recycled and recyclable packaging in plastic-free, compostable satchels. Their environmentally conscious moral stance reflects my own, only upgraded to vegan too. For the last month or so, I’ve been using the following two products. Here’s how I’ve been getting on:

Face Cleanser | £14.50

I’m really impressed with this cleanser, so let’s get its one small downfall out of the way: I don’t love the scent. This is 100% a personal preference (or lack thereof). I’m used to unscented skincare so the aloe vera is a little strong for me- especially in the mornings.

When I discovered that all of the ingredients are natural, I was a little sceptical. Sometimes I find that this is a little bit of a fad selling-point and I really believe that not all synthetic ingredients need to be avoided. However, the natural ingredients in this product (sage and calendula to name a couple) really do the trick. The cleanser gently works to remove any nasties and isn’t in the slightest bit drying.

Face Moisturiser | £18.00

The scent of this is very similar to its cleanser sister. The cream form, however, means that it’s not quite as strong and is therefore much more bearable. I find the application of the moisturiser a slight annoyance, but not enough to deter me from the product itself. It’s one of those moisturisers which takes a bit of rubbing in. It spreads a ‘suncream white’ across your face until the skin decides to eventually absorb it. Whilst this slightly irritates me on the days I’m in a rush, other times I’m aware that there’s probably a benefit in knowing the product has been thoroughly massaged into the skin.

The moisturiser is suitable for both morning and night, but I prefer to use it in the morning. It leaves the skin a little sticky for my liking in the evening but makes a wonderfully effective (and super moisturising) base for makeup.

NEEK

Summary

I always worry a little about switching out skincare products that I know and love, for ones I’ve not yet tried. I have a collection of established products which work well with my skin but the two NEEK products have both been effortlessly introduced to my regime. I’ve suffered absolutely no adverse effects since using either and they’ve maintained healthy, moisturised skin. While I’ve mentioned a few niggles in terms of consistency and scent, I can’t fault the results in the slightest. Both products will last well as a pea sized amount of each is plenty. NEEK is a brand that I’ll definitely be buying from again. After reading Amie’s review of a couple of their lipsticks on The Curvaceous Vegan, I have my eye on their makeup line and I sincerely look forward to trying out more of their products.

Worldwide delivery is free on any order which exceeds £30.00 and I didn’t have to pay a customs charge.

These sound like great products. I really want to start introducing much more CF and/or Vegan products into my skincare. I absolutely LOVE the packaging of these! So cute! Shame about the scent though but I think that’s something I could probably overlook. Fab post! <3

They really do work well! The packaging is adorable isn’t it?! Its not actually a nasty scent but I’m just used to skincare with much more subtle scents! x

I’m like you in that I always struggle with changing up my skin care products because I get used to the ones that I know and love! But these seem pretty good, It’s great that they’re ethical, I love the sound of the face cleanser, it sounds like it does a pretty good job!

I love trying new products but it is a little anxiety inducing because you worry that they won’t work as well! It’s a really lovely one and definitely works well for me x

I am SO excited about environmentally friendly brands! Love this review. I love the eco-friendly packaging. The cleanser sounds amazing, but I’m a little weary about the moisturizer. If it didn’t take so long to soak in, I would be so excited to try it!

Its so nice to see some making the effort isn’t it? I’m so glad, the cleanser is definitely worth a try and the moisturiser is great if you can see past having to rub it in! x

I am loving this duo at the moment, the cleanser is so good and I’ve nearly finished it. So glad it’s vegan aswell!

I’ve been hearing a lot about NEEK recently and there’s been lots of good reviews! I think I need to try them out!

    • February 23, 2019 / 9:11 am

They’ve kind of come out of nowhere and are now popping up aren’t they? I’d definitely recommend the brand in general x

  8. February 22, 2019 / 10:58 pm

These sound great, but I totally know what you mean about it taking a while to absorb into your skin. That’s why I tend to use a thin water type moisturiser in the morning as I just wouldn’t have time to let it sink in 🤦🏼‍♀️ x

  9. February 23, 2019 / 1:02 am

I’ve never heard of this brand but they have such great values! Great review 🙂 x

  10. February 23, 2019 / 11:13 am

These look so lovely! I’m definitely trying to be more mindful about the products I buy and am trying to use more that are ethical/vegan/not tested on animals!

I hadn’t heard too much about this brand up until recently, but all I’ve heard is good things! I really want to get into using more cruelty free products so this might be a good place to start…

I haven’t used Neek before but I LOVE that they’re eco-friendly and super affordable. It’s good for you and for the environment, double win! Oooh, I like that the cleanser has aloe vera. It is great that the moisturizer does a great job of keeping your face from drying out. Glad you enjoyed the two products! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  16. February 24, 2019 / 3:43 pm

Looks like some great products to add to my to-try list! For a face wash scent usually doesn’t bother me much so long as it doesn’t irritate my skin. Always on the look out for all-natural, vegan products. Great review

    • February 24, 2019 / 9:28 pm

They definitely are good ones! It’s definitely not a deal breaker just something I’ve had to get used to! Thank you! x

  17. February 24, 2019 / 8:18 pm

I really like the sound of these products! I’m not sure that I’d love the scents either, but they sound incredibly moisturising – something my skin needs right now! x

    • February 24, 2019 / 9:39 pm

I really like them! It’s not a quality of them that I love but its definitely one that I can look past given how good they are and how well my skin reacts to them x

  18. February 24, 2019 / 8:25 pm

These sound like great products! I love that they add environmentally friendly products to shelves nowadays. Thanks for sharing!

I couldn’t agree more! It’s a really nice one and I’ve actually even got used to the scent now! x

Thank you! I completely agree- I’m so glad I was able to introduce you to them! x

  23. February 26, 2019 / 8:51 pm

Never heard of this skincare brand but i struggle with sensitive skin so trying new things is always risky for me, im glad these worked well for you x

  24. February 26, 2019 / 9:14 pm

I haven’t come across this brand before. These products sound great, They are reasonably priced too. Some skin care products are stupidly priced. I like that a little of the product goes a long way too! xxx

    • February 27, 2019 / 10:51 am

Its a new one for me too but I really like them! They’re around the same price mark as my usual skincare so for them to be completely ethical too is amazing! x

  25. February 26, 2019 / 9:58 pm

I also like to try eco- friendly products too. NEEK: an ethical skincare company from Australia, sounds like something I would like to try too. I am a big fan of facial cleansers and always willing to try something new.

    • February 27, 2019 / 10:58 am

I’ve not come across very many beauty brands that offer such eco-friendly packaging so for it to be great skincare too is amazing x

  26. February 26, 2019 / 10:58 pm

These products sound lovely! I totally agree that synthetic doesn’t mean bad. And honestly, all natural just makes me think that it’s more likely to irritate my skin. I love the sound of the moisturiser but I think the sunscreen white might annoy me a little x

Both of these products sound lovely and isn’t the packaging to die for?! So dreamy! I’m gutted because I was approached to try this brand, but I had to decline because I’m intolerant to some of the ingredients within the products.. I absolutely love that NEEK is an environmentally and vegan friendly brand 🙂 xo
