NEEK Skin Organics, An Introduction
Unless you’re a brand new reader, you may know that over the last few months I’ve been on the hunt for eco-friendly brands. Cue NEEK: an ethical skincare company from Australia, who popped into my e-mails at just the right moment. A brand that I can fully get behind, NEEK utilise natural, active ingredients in their cruelty-free and vegan beauty products. They also post out their recycled and recyclable packaging in plastic-free, compostable satchels. Their environmentally conscious moral stance reflects my own, only upgraded to vegan too. For the last month or so, I’ve been using the following two products. Here’s how I’ve been getting on:
I’m really impressed with this cleanser, so let’s get its one small downfall out of the way: I don’t love the scent. This is 100% a personal preference (or lack thereof). I’m used to unscented skincare so the aloe vera is a little strong for me- especially in the mornings.
When I discovered that all of the ingredients are natural, I was a little sceptical. Sometimes I find that this is a little bit of a fad selling-point and I really believe that not all synthetic ingredients need to be avoided. However, the natural ingredients in this product (sage and calendula to name a couple) really do the trick. The cleanser gently works to remove any nasties and isn’t in the slightest bit drying.
The scent of this is very similar to its cleanser sister. The cream form, however, means that it’s not quite as strong and is therefore much more bearable. I find the application of the moisturiser a slight annoyance, but not enough to deter me from the product itself. It’s one of those moisturisers which takes a bit of rubbing in. It spreads a ‘suncream white’ across your face until the skin decides to eventually absorb it. Whilst this slightly irritates me on the days I’m in a rush, other times I’m aware that there’s probably a benefit in knowing the product has been thoroughly massaged into the skin.
The moisturiser is suitable for both morning and night, but I prefer to use it in the morning. It leaves the skin a little sticky for my liking in the evening but makes a wonderfully effective (and super moisturising) base for makeup.
I always worry a little about switching out skincare products that I know and love, for ones I’ve not yet tried. I have a collection of established products which work well with my skin but the two NEEK products have both been effortlessly introduced to my regime. I’ve suffered absolutely no adverse effects since using either and they’ve maintained healthy, moisturised skin. While I’ve mentioned a few niggles in terms of consistency and scent, I can’t fault the results in the slightest. Both products will last well as a pea sized amount of each is plenty. NEEK is a brand that I’ll definitely be buying from again. After reading Amie’s review of a couple of their lipsticks on The Curvaceous Vegan, I have my eye on their makeup line and I sincerely look forward to trying out more of their products.
Worldwide delivery is free on any order which exceeds £30.00 and I didn’t have to pay a customs charge.
