Hello and welcome to another full feature Pixi beauty collection. Pixi has been a favourite skincare brand of mine since I tried and fell in love with their Glow Tonic and they have only gone up in my estimation since. The Hydrating Milky collection is their latest release and I’ll be sharing my thoughts on the six products that I’ve incorporated into my routine for the past month.
These products are listed in the order in which they should be applied, creating an entire skincare routine.
First up, naturally, is the makeup remover. Although makeup removers are useful when it comes to removing more stubborn makeup like waterproof mascara, I typically favour more eco-friendly makeup erasers. For that reason, this is perhaps one of the only products that I wouldn’t necessarily repurchase.
Having said that, if you do prefer to use makeup removers like this, then it’s great and does what it says on the tin. It’s gentle on the skin yet tough on makeup, easily wiping away all that I tried it on, including waterproof mascara and lip stains.
To trial this fairly, I’ve been using it both morning and evening and my skin absolutely loves it. It’s gentle and hydrating whilst still cleansing thoroughly.
I typically favour gel cleansers but the cream formula of this has me sold. If you were to buy only one thing from this entire range, I’d recommend this. Lathering beautifully, a little goes a long way, so a pea-sized amount is all you need per use. I’d estimate that this whole cleanser would last me around four to six months, twice per day, so it’s a great price.
Whilst this makes a wonderful addition to the milky range, it’s interesting that they’ve stripped the tonic of the word ‘hydrating’, but haven’t this. Moisture and hydration aren’t benefits I’d expect from a peel and while this is one of the more gentle ones of those I’ve used, I haven’t found it to be actively hydrating. Saying that when used with the rest of the collection it certainly contributes to a more healthy and hydrated complexion.
Like any other peel, this exfoliates and clears away dead skin cells to encourage a radiance. For me, it comes in a close second to the cleanser as a favourite product from this collection.
Pixi’s Glow Tonic is one of my all-time favourite toners. Whilst their Milky Tonic hasn’t quite made it into my top three, it is a beautiful product. I personally find it a little less effective but that’s hardly surprising, considering how much more gentle it is.
When I occasionally suffer from stress-induced eczema, a more gentle tonic is necessary, so this one is perfect. For that reason, I’d definitely suggest this as one to try if your skin finds Glow Tonic too harsh.
Another milky product that I wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase. I love Pixi serums and this one measures up to the rest; incredibly hydrating yet smooth and quickly absorbed. Whilst you can apply this both morning and night, I’ve only been using it within my evening skincare routine as my skin finds that hydrating enough.
I’ll admit to being incredibly sceptical towards this as a face and body lotion. Typically I’m a firm believer that skin on the face has different needs to skin on the rest of the body, so I was cautious of trying this and worried that it would be too heavy for my face.
Actually, I think Pixi has struck a nice balance between face and body for this product, but if I’m honest, I don’t feel as though it’s overly necessary. I like body lotions and I like face creams. In my eyes, those are two different things and I’ve never found myself wishing I only needed one product to do both jobs. In the interest of providing a fair review, I’ve been using this for the past month and was quite pleasantly surprised that it isn’t too heavy. I’ve been using it as a moisturiser on my face, décolletage, elbows, and hands.
Whilst I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing this product, I appreciate that it would be handy for those who travel or who like to keep their beauty routines as simple as possible.
Overall, I’m a big fan of the milky collection. Of the six products I tried, I’d definitely repurchase four; the cleanser, peel, tonic, and serum, without hesitation. The other two products I like, not enough to repurchase, but to continue to use. After a month of a skincare routine which has almost exclusively featured Pixi’s milky collection, my complexion is great and my skin is really hydrated. ‘Milky Hydration’ is certainly a fitting name for the collection.
