Hair & Beauty Products I’ve Emptied | March, April & May

Fragrance & Makeup

It appears I’ve inadvertently begun a new series. For a while now, every couple of months I’ve discussed the beauty products I’ve emptied and here I am again. I really enjoy both reading and writing these type of posts because I find that they provide a slightly more real insight.

I finally emptied a fragrance! I have so many and get bored so easily that I feel as though they last forever. Does anyone else remember when this was all anyone was wearing? And when I say anyone, I mean all the other girls in your class, obviously. I honestly really like this perfume for how light and fresh it is, but I wouldn’t buy it again. I can get quite sentimental over fragrances and this just reminds me of a time in my life which I’ve moved past.

This is one of my high end holy grail foundations. It’s perfect for full coverage, good-skin-even-on-a-bad-skin-day. This actually applied much better (and much less cakey) when I first bought it, but it does advise you to shake to distribute the oil before you use. Call it a lesson learnt.

I’m not going to lie, I didn’t empty this. I have no idea how long it has been in my drawer but considering I couldn’t find any to link to other than e-Bay, I’d say far too long. Don’t worry, it’s in the bin.

I don’t have much to say about this one as it’s just – average. It’s a fair price and does the job without leaving my fine hair greasy but it’s certainly not a ride or die.

This evidences how terrible I am for having multiple products on the go at the same time. I have to admit I slightly prefer this to the John Frieda, but not by much.

I raved about this in a review of 3 hair care products from Fabriah a little while ago. I’ve emptied the entire bottle and still feel the same way. It smells incredible and leaves my hair nourished, what more could you ask for?

Skincare: Serums and creams

I received a travel size of this in the 2018 M&S beauty advent calendar. As someone in my twenties, this is a product that I never would have picked up myself but which I’ll now more than likely purchase. This has a lovely subtle scent and encouraged me to actually pay attention to my neck within my skincare for once. Everyone in the know raves about preventative ageing and whilst thankfully I can’t evidence for or against it yet, I did appreciate it as part of my routine.

I’ve discussed my love for this, specifically in terms of being an Autumn / Winter skincare staple but it really does the job all year around. Although this is one of the more expensive eye creams I use, I’ve tended to only use it in the evenings so it’s lasted really well.

This is not a great product. I can recommend handfuls and handfuls of great moisturising lip butters or balms but this definitely isn’t one of them. The Nivea butters which featured in my last product empties, for example, are far better and only around 20p dearer.

My first impressions of this product were incredible. It left my skin feeling more supple and looking more radiant. The only downfall is its shelf-life. I’m terrible for using beauty products past their recommended shelf-life but this is one that turned. I loved the product so much that there wasn’t an awful lot left to chuck away, but I’d avoid buying this again until I drastically reduce my skincare shelves (you know I’m working on it).

I recently included this in my roundup of great affordable toners and it really is. Although it isn’t quite industrial enough for my evening routine, it’s the perfect gentle toner to freshen your face in the morning. I got the largest size available and I although I emptied it eventually, I’d go for a smaller bottle next time.

Although this is an anti-ageing serum, I’ve been using it on and off for years. It’s one of my preventative products and honestly brags a multitude of other benefits too.

I agree with you on the Daisy fragrance. My hubby has bought me two different ones over the last couple of years. One of them I gave to my daughter as I just didn’t like it and the one he bought me last Christmas is sitting unused. It’s really not my favourite scent! The bottles are cute though.

I used the Skinkissed serum a couple of years ago. I found it ok, but like you say, it just doesn’t last and loses efficacy quite quickly. x

Oh that’s such a shame, hopefully he won’t buy you any more! I agree, very cute bottles and I did used to like it! I’m glad you found the same, I was wondering whether I just had a dud but I guess not! x

I’ve been feeling so guilty about wasting so much that I’m really trying to use everything and obviously only replace it all with things I really love x

I don’t think there isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t see a Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume picture on my Insta feed! I do love the Nivea lip care though, it’s the one that has definitely helped my dry lips more than any other product! xx

The comment on the Revlon lip product really made me laugh. I recently had a clear out myself and found a few products in the same ‘I didn’t like it and they no longer sell it category’. I felt so guilty throwing them out! I have a few minis of the Clinique eye cream but I still haven’t tried it! x

I’ve actually used John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease before! Bummer it didn’t do much for you but when I used it in the past, it’s actually helped my case of frizzy hair, plus with that price tag, I can’t complain much!

Oh it did work for me! It just didn’t stand out as better than others I’ve used but I agree- it’s a great price tag x

I like the sound of the foundation, I’ve been looking for a high end foundation, I keep buying the cheaper ones, and find that they’re OK but not amazing and so I’ve been looking for some better ones. I’ve been looking at buying the Estee lauder foundation as I’ve heard so many good things, even with a high price.

I’m definitely a huge advocate for high end foundation – I generally find them so much more reliable. I must say though, the Estee Lauder is one of my favourites and comes up cheaper than the MJ x

Nice to see you using Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume. I always wanted to know if people would really use it until the last drop. I almost bought this bottle too. Great review!

I am partial to Prai Beauty products. I’ve used the Throat & Decolletage Creme in the past. Prai also has a limited edition collective of beautifully, decorated containers which I enjoy.
