Swizzels Sweets To Win Their Heart | Happy Valentines

Valentine’s day is creeping up on us again. It’s a controversial holiday, but I personally see it as the perfect excuse for a little romance. I wouldn’t exactly complain if I was showered in extravagant gifts, but its thoughtfulness and small gestures that really win me over. Small gifts like Swizzels sweets.

This post is part of a paid collaboration with Swizzels Sweets. All words, images, and opinions are my own. Please read my full disclaimer for more information.

Swizzels are sweet, triggering nostalgia and reintroducing an innocent sense of fun. In 24 years, I’ve not once eaten a Love Heart without first reading its little message of ‘HELLO’ or ‘FIRST LOVE’. I still find myself laughing and passing over relevant ones to friends or my boyfriend. Resisting the urge to lick the words, printing them in reverse on white paper.

Retro sweets make small, fail-safe gestures to let someone know that you’re thinking about them. For a partner, there are personalised Love Hearts which are perfect to share over a date night movie.

Lipsticks or Love Hearts Dips are perhaps better suited to gift single friends who deserve to feel loved on Valentines. Some sweets will always trigger memories of walking down to the village sweet shop with friends and spending my pennies. A reminder of a more simple time. It’s really lovely that I can gift the same sweets to the same friends over 10 years later, and that the hit of sugar will be appreciated just as much.

Bub is mine and Jamies cute (but probably sickening to others) nickname of choice. I chose to get this personalised onto the mini Love Hearts as a cute addition to our sweet jar. Incorporating a pet name or inside joke is a great way of making a gift just that bit more thoughtful. Your loved one’s name would also be the obvious fail-safe option.

I completely agree with you, it’s the small, romantic gestures that count and these are perfect for that. I mentioned on your Instagram post that we made up pretty little bags of these love hearts for our wedding favours and they looked so cute on the tables. x
